A postdoctoral research scholar position on infectious disease modeling is immediately available at Dr. Lanzas lab (North Carolina State University). The successful candidate will join a 5-year CDC-funded project in the area of infectious disease modeling of health-care associated infections with an interdisciplinary group of researchers with expertise in
infectious disease modeling, hospital epidemiology and clinics, applied mathematics, and genomics from North Carolina State University, Washington University School of Medicine, and University of Tennessee. The project involve the development of multi-scale models for the transmission and phylodynamics of multidrug resistant pathogens. The initial appointment will be for one year, with renewal possible.

Duties & Responsibilities:
The postdoctoral associate will be expected to carry out independent work, make presentations regarding his/her research, to publish their research results in peer-reviewed journals, to participate in grant proposal preparation, and to interact with other faculty, postdoctoral associates, and graduate students at the University level and across collaborating institutions of the project.

Other Work/ResponsibilitiesMinimum Experience/Education

Ph.D. or equivalent doctorate (e.g., M.D., D.V.M., Sc.D.) in appropriate field awarded no more than five (5) years from initial date of postdoctoral appointment.

Departmental Required Skills

The postdoctoral associate shall have a Ph.D. degree in a relevant quantitative discipline (ecology, epidemiology, engineering, applied mathematics, statistics and related fields) and have a deep interest in interdisciplinary collaboration, strong quantitative and programming skills, and good oral and writing skills are expected. The applicant must have experience in R software and/or MATLAB.

Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education

Experience developing and implement agent-based models and/or infectious disease genomics is desirable.
