Career Services Advisor/Mentor Job Number Full/Part Time Schedule Salary 202003053601 Full Time 8AM - 5PM $45,300 - $78,400 Position Information UCR Extension is the continuing education division of UC Riverside and offers a wide range of programs designed to meet the needs of students and employers. Extension is launching a new apprenticeship program for employees in IT and Advanced Manufacturing. Reporting to the Director of Academic Programs, the Career Service Advisor/Mentor supports the development of apprenticeship opportunities. This includes managing relationships and partnerships with IT or manufacturing businesses, associations, and other organizations, as well as seeking out referrals for opportunities for apprenticeships and meeting other programmatic needs. Develops presentations for opportunities as well as workshops/orientations for students. Oversees student coaching and career guidance, including using standard quantitative and qualitative assessments. Researches and evaluates economic and employment trend data. Analyzes data and develops reports, as well as responding to and meeting grant reporting requirements. This is a grant funded contract position, renewable for up to 4 years. Education Education Requirements Degree Requirement Advanced degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training. Required
Experience Experience Requirement 2 - 4 years of related experience. Required Experience advising or counseling adult student populations in higher education settings.. Preferred Relationship management experience. Preferred Experience working with diverse populations including veterans, military spouses, people with disabilities, women, people of color, or the formerly incarcerated. Preferred Experience implementing or providing programming support in continuing education organization. Preferred Experience with job, internship, externship, practicum,or apprenticeship placement. Preferred Knowledge of public job and career support systems, i.e., WIOA, America's Jobs Centers, Employment Development. Preferred Experience working with IT and Advanced Manufacturing industries. Preferred Experience advising continuing education students. Preferred
Minimum Requirements Ability to use computer systems and applications, presentation skills, verbal communication, written communication, and organization skills.
Ability to work with people from diverse cultures.
Basic knowledge of career development theories, adult development theory, counseling processes, career coaching techniques, career decision making, learning styles, and job search techniques.
Skill in communicating with a broad spectrum of shareholders.
Preferred Qualifications Basic knowledge of UC programs, career services, recruiting and staffing methods, and employment trends.

Ability to travel locally.

Knowledge of UCR Extension programs.

Knowledge of businesses local to UCR Extension.
