This position is a full-time, academic year, non-tenure track position, limited to 06-19-2021 with anticipated academic year renewal. Anticipated start date is January 2021.
The Department of Electrical, Computer, and Biomedical Engineering at the University of Rhode Island invites applications for a full-time Lecturer in Computer Engineering beginning Spring 2021.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The successful candidate will be expected to teach introductory and intermediate computer engineering courses and to teach and/or coordinate computer engineering laboratory courses. This latter role will involve the training/supervision of graduate and undergraduate teaching assistants. The candidate is also expected to teach introductory and intermediate electrical engineering and/or biomedical engineering courses according to the department needs.
The successful candidate will be expected to assist the Department in developing student assessment and course review material for these courses as needed for program review by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET).
The courses are expected to be computer systems, digital design (with FPGAs) as well as basic electrical circuits, but the specific assignments will vary according to departmental curricular needs.
The anticipated teaching load is 12 credits per semester.
1.Ph.D. in Science, Engineering or related field.
2.A minimum of one year of experience teaching lecture and laboratory courses in an ABET accredited electrical or computer engineering program.
3.Demonstrated teaching experience in any two of the following courses: Introduction to Computing Systems; Digital Design with FPGAs and VHDL; and/or, Passive and Active Circuits.
4.Demonstrated proficiency in verbal communication skills.
5.Demonstrated strong interpersonal skills.
6.Demonstrated experience in supervising graduate and/or undergraduate teaching assistants in laboratory courses.
7.Demonstrated proficiency in written communication skills.
8.Demonstrated experience working with diverse groups/populations.
1.Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team.
2.Demonstrated ability to do research.
