Student Employment Coordinator

POSITION SUMMARY

The Student Employment Coordinator will oversee a new program to provide IWU student employees with professional development training throughout the year.This role will secure speakers and spaces for professional development workshops.The Coordinator will also oversee the Accelerate Indiana Internship program and build relationships with Indiana employers.This position is funded by a Lilly Endowment grant ending June 30, 2021.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIP

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

oProvide a variety of career readiness services for university departments and 1,400 IWU student workers

oBuild and maintain relationships with campus employers and assist in assessment processes of student work performance

oProvide opportunities to advertise student job listings on campus

oAssist students in developing their resumes as a requirement for application to campus jobs

oGuide students in the development of their Handshake and LinkedIn profiles

oSecure employer sponsors to sustain the Student Employment Training program after grant funding expires

oDevelop online materials to sustain professional development training post-grant

oFacilitate on-campus employment opportunities

oCoordinate Federal Work Study community partners

oTrain on-campus supervisors regarding FERPA, Work Study, and hiring requirements

oTeaching in co-curricular development workshops for the SET program

oInventory student employment records

oPlan annual student employee banquet to recognize their work

oPlan annual career fair

oTrack and manage incoming revenue for events from corporate sponsors

oOversee Accelerate Indiana Internship program

oApprove payroll for paid student employees and paid interns

oRepresent the Career Development office at Visit Days and New Student Registration – some nights and weekends

oAttend meetings and serve on committees as assigned and appropriate

oAbility to present in the classroom and conference presentations

oTaking career office projects from ideas to fruition

oEvent planning of multiple events and workshops per semester

oAbility to coordinate people and programs

oExcellent written and oral communication

oKnowledge of career resources
