The Department of Sociology at Rice University invites applications for a tenure-track position to begin July 2021. Areas of specialization are open, but our faculty engage in research pertaining to social inequality and culture, and we encourage applicants whose work embraces intersectional frameworks. The position is at the Assistant Professor level, but exceptional applicants at a more senior level may be considered, subject to University approval. Assistant professors are expected to teach undergraduate and graduate courses, perform research in their specialized area, and contribute to university service. Applicants should demonstrate excellence in scholarship, teaching, and collegial service. Rice is a Research 1 private institution in Houston, Texas with PhD and postdoctoral fellowship programs, competitive salaries, and outstanding undergraduate and graduate students. Candidates must currently have a Ph.D. or complete the Ph.D. by July 1, 2021.
