Position Summary:

Florida Atlantic University is seeking a Postdoctoral Research Fellow, Psychology, Jupiter, FL.

Postdoctoral position to investigate non-invasive approaches to enhance sleep oscillations in rats and enhance memory function. This project is part of a collaboration between the laboratories of Dr. Carmen Varela (Psychology Department, Florida Atlantic University, FAU; and Dr. Dara Manoach (Massachusetts General Hospital-Harvard Medical School). The project will be conducted at FAU and involve frequent interaction with collaborators in Boston.

Summary of Responsibilities Include:

  • Conducts electrophysiology experiments in behaving rats to investigate sleep manipulations that will benefit memory function.
  • Maintains explicit and accurate records of performed analyses and data. Assures resources and documentation are up to date on shared repositories. Contributes to regular meetings with the collaborative team, grant reports and dissemination of results in national and international conferences.
  • Helps to maintain a collaborative, clean, and safe workplace in compliance with Federal, State, and University regulations.
  • Verbally presents results of research and engages in discussion within the lab and broader community.

Minimum Qualifications:

PhD Degree from an accredited university required by time of application.

Experience working with rodents required.
