Under thedirection and supervision of the licensed medical Endocrinology Physician,the Physician Assistant, in the Department of Medicine’s Endocrinology divisionat the Lewis Katz School of Medicine, will provide routine diagnostic,preventive, and treatment services to ambulatory patients, specifically relatedto diabetes management. The out-patient clinics occur on the TUHcampus, Jeanes Hospital campus and at Northeastern Ambulatory Care Center(NACC). There are 9 out-patient sessions per week.
Under thesupervision of a collaborating physician, responsibilities include: providingrelevant health instruction and counseling; screening patients todetermine the need for medical attention including recording patient historyand pertinent data; performing physical examinations, collecting specimens fortesting and initiating commonly performed initial laboratory studies;identifying abnormal findings on physical examinations, test results or patienthistory and discussing the information with the physician; providing educationto patients and their families; following up on referrals to ensure patientcompliance with health care recommendations; facilitating the design and implementationof value-based quality initiatives; providing comprehensive documentation andcommunication with other healthcare providers; contributing to staffconferences, and attending staff andEndocrinology CME meetings; and working with research staff to supportclinical investigations. Performs otherduties as assigned.
RequiredEducation and Experience:
Certificationas a Physician Assistant within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. DEA Certification.
Required Skills and Abilities:
*Demonstrated ability to solve complex problemswithin established policies and use independent judgment.
*Must maintain continuing education requirementsfor licensure and remain up to date in area of practice.
*Demonstrated ability to document clinical careprovided to patients in a thorough and timely manner
*Strong written and verbal communication skillswith the ability to interact with a diverse population of students, faculty,staff, and patients.
*Ability to operate all standing office equipment andsoftware including MS Office.
*Experience using EPIC.
