The Office of Faculty Affairs at the Lewis Katz School ofMedicine (LKSOM) at Temple University strives to provide an intentional andintegrated approach to promote faculty excellence within multipledomains.  We have an institutional commitment to guide and supportthe successful development of our faculty across a spectrum of appointmenttypes, roles and career stages.  Toward this goal, the Office ofFaculty Affairs at LKSOM invites applications for the position of Director ofFaculty Development.

Under the direction of the Senior Associate Dean of FacultyAffairs, The Director of Faculty Development will be responsible for thecreation and delivery of a broad range of programmatic content to support theprofessional development and quality of work life of both clinical and basicscience faculty, as well as academic leaders, within LKSOM.  TheDirector will develop measures to analyze and evaluate these programs to ensurecontinual improvement in their quality.  The Director will alsocreate and manage needs assessment processes as required, includingdistribution, evaluation, data collection and analysis, as well as manageeducational databases.  The Director will also support theimplementation of institution-wide initiatives and administrative policiesrelated to faculty.  This is a full-time (12-month) administrativeposition with full benefits.

Required Education and Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in education, science, human resources, orpsychology and at least 6 years of related experience in adult training. Anequivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

*Ability to act as liaison with Faculty and trainee groups.

*Demonstratedeffectiveness in a variety of presentation settings (one-one-one, 

small and large groups).

*Comfortable relating to multiple levels of staff andleadership.

*Abilityto delegate/assign tasks and responsibilities. 

*Valuesequity and inclusion.

*Matureinterpersonal skills; ability to build constructive and effective 

relationships using tact anddiplomacy at all levels of the organization.

*Excellentverbal and written communication skills.

*Abilityto plan, organize work and use time effectively and efficiently.

*Abilityto work independently while functioning effectively in a team 

environment.

*Excellentcomputer skills, including usage of databases.

*Evidenceof increasing responsibilities within positions, requiring 

independence,projectplanning, etc.

*Demonstrated expertise in the implementation and evaluationof training programs.

*Abilityto establish priorities, meet deadlines, and carry multiple, complex, 

extended projects throughto completion.

Preferred:

Master’sdegree in education, science, human resources, or psychology, or an 

advanced degreein biomedical or health.
