The Hospice and Palliative Medicine Fellowship is accredited by ACGME and provides intensive training and experience in addressing the needs of patients with serious illnesses, including symptom-control interventions; clinical and non-clinical issues related to serious illness, the dying process, and bereavement; a commitment to an interdisciplinary team approach; and a focus on the patient and family as the unit of care.

Job Duties

The clinical curriculum includes training in multiple settings, including inpatient and outpatient palliative and hospice units, long-term care facilities, and specialty clinics.
Vidant Medical Center serves as the teaching hospital for the Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University.

Minimum Education/Experience

MD or DO degree from an appropriately accredited institution.
Board Certified or Board Eligible in Family Medicine.
Completion of an accredited US residency program.

License or Certification Required by Statute or Regulation

N/A

Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education

Applicants with a strong family medicine and geriatrics care background and an interest in serving an underserved population are preferred.
