The LU Tutoring Center is hiring motivated, capable and personable students to be tutors. We are looking for tutors in a variety of subjects, including engineering, math, history, biology, chemistry, business, and the social sciences.
•Meets individually with students to assist them in understanding course content
•Encourages students to develop study skills that lead to long-term retention of course material
•Maintains consistent communication with supervisory staff
•Models appropriate academic attitudes and behaviors to staff, faculty and students
•Attends mandatory tutor training meetings
•Completes and submits tutoring appointment report after each tutoring session on Navigate
•Performs other duties as assigned.
•Minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA
•Demonstrated proficiency in specific tutoring subject areas (A or B grades in courses)
•Strong interpersonal and communication skills
•Strong decision-making skills
•Two references, including at least one from a faculty member who can verify subject proficiency
