Assistant Athletic Trainer (Head Football)/Instructor Health, Recreation & Community Services

Job description

Assists with the supervision and coordination of the University’s overall sports medicine and athletic training services in consultation with and under the supervision of the Director of Athletic Training Services/Head Athletic Trainer, team physician(s) and other qualified medical personnel; serves as head athletic trainer for football; assists with the development and implementation of student athlete welfare and educational programs including but not limited to NCAA drug testing, substance abuse programming, and nutritional guidance; and assists with the supervision and instruction of the clinical educational experiences in the University’s Athletic Training Education Program under the supervision of the Director of Athletic Training Education.

Master’s Degree in Athletic Training; certification by the National Athletic Trainers’ Association Board of Certification (NATABOC); and Athletic Training Licensure (or eligibility for licensure) in the State of Iowa required. At least three years of post-graduate degree experience working with college football including two years of experience supervising athletic training students as an Approved Clinical Instructor/Preceptor within a CAATE program; NCAA Division I FBS/FCS experience; experience with manual therapy rehabilitation techniques; and experience maintaining aquatic therapy and aquatic treadmill equipment preferred.
