Preferred QualificationsPosition Summary

The University of Georgia Facilities Management Division (FMD) IT is seeking qualified candidates for a Systems Administrator. This position will be responsible for the system administration of production servers, virtual desktop infrastructure, Active Director, security and other IT managed systems. This is a supervisory position.
Typical Responsibilities:
*Administration and maintenance of VDI and VMware virtual environments, including management and provisioning of storage and virtual networking.
*Physical and virtual client and server installation (Windows and Linux), configuration, administration, maintenance and troubleshooting.
*Monitoring server and IT infrastructure availability and performance.
*Supervision of the FMD Helpdesk to ensure resolution of assigned helpdesk tickets.
*Develop and maintain written documentation to support the administration and maintenance of production quality services.
*Working as part of a team.
*Driving a UGA vehicle to different buildings across campus.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies

*Have excellent problem solving, customer service and communications skills.
*Experience with VMware, Active Directory, Horizon View and PowerShell scripting.
*Ability to manage and direct workflow.

Physical Demands

Position involves sitting at computer workstation for hours at a time.
*Lift and carry files, materials and computer equipment.
*Move from office to another office on campus.
*Adequate vision, hearing and manual dexterity to interact with people in person, on the phone and in writing.

*Management and occasional installation of VMware ESXi servers and VDI environments.
*Installation, configuration, administration and maintenance of VDI desktops, VMware virtual servers and VMware virtual desktops including Windows and Linux environments.
*Installation, configuration, administration and maintenance of physical servers and desktop clients including Windows and Linux environments.
*Monitoring server and IT infrastructure availability and performance.
