Shenandoah is seeking a full-time Junior Web Developer within the Office of Marketing & Communications (OMC) based in Winchester to assist with the development, support, and maintenance of the university’s WordPress environment and mobile app. The ideal candidate is ready to apply their current web development knowledge and eager to learn new skills in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications:

    Minimum 1-2 years web development experience (front-end or backend)Bachelor’s degree desired but not required; major preferably in computer science, IT, orrelated fieldWordPress proficiency with regard to custom theme and template building using thefollowing:
      Genesis frameworkSASSGutenberg BlocksWP-CLIAdvanced Custom Fields Pro** Notable WP Plugins
        Events Calendar ProGravity FormsYoast PremiumMigrateDB Pro
    Working knowledge of WPEngine server (currently converting to php7.4 and Nginxservers )Must have experience with HTML5, CSS3, PHP 7.4, MySQL 5.29, and JavaScriptWorking knowledge of LAMP stack and NGINXUnderstanding of accessibility best practices – WCAG 2.1 AA complianceFamiliarity with Adobe Creative Suite highly desiredInterested in current web design practices and latest digital trendsAble to recognize system deficiencies and implement effective solutionsMust be able to work independently and complete projects on deadlineWillingness to provide a wide range of tasks, perform other duties as assignedStrong work ethic and proven time management skillsExcellent organizational, interpersonal and communication skillsFlexibility to work unpredictable hours, including some evenings and weekendsEnergy, enthusiasm, sense of humor, and positive attitude required

In addition to the above qualifications, the ideal candidate

    Will be comfortable setting up a local site environment to implement testing, code building and bug fixes, using HomeBrew, Composer andLaravel/Valet.Possess knowledge of git and subversion control for collaborating with other team members using git.Tower application.Have a strong sense of trending, web-related technologies, such as WP 5.0+, Gutenberg, Ngnix and Valet.
