Position Summary::

The Capstone College of Nursing at the University of Alabama is seeking a faculty member with an established program of research with an emphasis in biotechnology or bio-statistics to support our graduate nursing programs, specifically our new PhD program. The ideal candidate will have teaching experience and an established program of funded research and publications with expertise in biotechnology, informatics, data analytics, simulation, or other aspects of healthcare technology.

The primary responsibilities of this faculty member will be conducting funded research, mentoring junior faculty and students, and collaborating with other members of the Alabama Life Research Institute and/or the UA Cyber Institute. These units are Inter-professional Research Institutes recently established at our university. A recent $5 million endowment gift to the Cyber Institute is providing additional support for these high priority programs. The faculty member will also be expected to teach at the graduate level.

The Capstone College of Nursing has over 2,000 students enrolled in programs leading to BSN, MSN, DNP, and PhD degrees. At the MSN level, we offer concentrations for Nurse Administrators and Nurse Practitioners. Our interdisciplinary EdD program is designed specifically for nurse educators and is jointly taught by faculty with expertise in nursing and education.

Minimum Qualifications: Candidates must have an earned research doctorate in nursing or a related field, five years of academic experience, a history of grant funding, and be eligible for licensure in Alabama. Preference will be given to candidates with experience teaching in a PhD program. Applicants are encouraged to submit a cover letter addressing their research and teaching experience and future goals along with a current curriculum vitae. Prior to employment, the successful candidate must pass a pre-employment background investigation. Position could begin as early as September 1, 2020.
