General Summary

The School of Teaching and Learning seeks to build a pool of non-tenure track instructor and student teaching supervisor applicants to be drawn from during the 2020-2021 academic year. Applications are accepted continuously and reviewed as vacancies become available. There may not be an actual vacancy at the time you apply. Positions are part time and may only be for one semester, depending on School needs. These positions are represented by the Illinois State University Education Association and may have associated dues or fees.

Instructors:
All applicants with Early Childhood, Elementary, Middle Level and Secondary teaching experience are encouraged to apply. School needs vary by semester; however, some specific needs at this time include: instructors in early childhood, elementary, and secondary literacy, elementary social studies, early childhood science; early childhood and elementary clinical supervisors; and early childhood and elementary education generalists.

Student Teaching Supervisors:
Mentoring experience is preferred. Supervisors are required to visit placement schools, observe student teachers, provide seminars related to current trends in education, and be available as a mentor to student teachers and cooperating teachers. Supervisors are assigned particular regions and may mentor student teachers from the following programs: early childhood, elementary, elementary bilingual and middle level. We are currently seeking to build pools in the Chicago and surrounding areas and in Central Illinois. Supervisors may be asked to observe in locations up to an hour's drive from their home for the duration of a semester.

Additional Information

The School of Teaching and Learning is home to four undergraduate teacher preparation programs and three graduate programs. In addition, students from every undergraduate teacher preparation program take courses within our school.

We take great pride in providing personal attention to students as we prepare them to take their place as teacher leaders in the nation's schools, as is evident in our mission statement. All programs in the school are fully accredited by the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools and the Illinois State Board of Education.

Required Qualifications

1. Master's degree or higher required.
2. Three years teaching experience and/or related professional education experience.
3. State law mandates demonstrable oral proficiency in the English language as a requirement for this position.
4. If this position is Security Sensitive or if you are subject to a criminal background investigation based on University policy, employment is contingent upon you passing a satisfactory criminal background investigation. You may not begin work until the criminal background investigation results have been received and cleared by Human Resources.
