Job Description:


The State University of New York at Fredonia invites applications for several part-time, temporary Motor Vehicle Operator positions available as Park & Ride Bus Drivers. SUNY Fredonia's Park & Ride service provides transportation for faculty, staff, students and campus visitors. Driver schedules will vary based on need, approx 10 hours per week. May be required to work longer hours as needed.


JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
The successful candidate will:


  • Be knowledgeable of the Vehicle and Traffic Law as it applies to the safe and legal operation of the vehicle in question.
  • Be knowledgeable of the nature of cargo carried and any special handling required.
  • Be knowledgeable of simple automotive repair and maintenance procedures.
  • Have the ability to operate motor vehicles as required, including a valid NYS driver license.
  • Participate in the LENS program.
  • Have the ability to lift and carry crates, cartons, boxes and other cargo onto and off of transport vehicles.
  • Be aware of, understand, and follow all university policies.


Requirements:


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS


  • Must possess a valid New York State driver license appropriate for the type of vehicle to be operated
  • May be required to possess a CDL Class A, B, C or General Class D license.
  • Reliable attendance is required.
  • Candidates must have a friendly and courteous personality, and demonstrate a high level of customer service representative of the University.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to work effectively, and in a collegial and professional manner, with students, faculty, and staff;
  • The ability to multi-task, meet goals and deadlines;
  • Demonstrated commitment and ability to work with a diverse group of students, faculty, staff and constituents in support of campus and department mission;
