Position Summary:

The Assistant Vice Provost (AVP) will work closely with the Deputy Vice Chancellor/Vice Provost and Chief Diversity Officer to: 1) lead and manage the campus-wide educational efforts of the division including the Learning Communities for Institutional Change & Excellence (LCICE) 2) assist with coordinating the division's efforts supporting the Strategic Diversity Framework (http://diversityframework.wisc.edu/documents.htm), and 3) lead and manage divisional administrative units including the Office of Strategic Diversity Planning and Research, Employee Disability Resources and the Office of Affirmative Action and Planning. The AVP will also assist in providing strategic leadership and support for engaging internal and external constituents of the Division of Diversity, Equity and Educational Achievement (DDEEA) and occasionally be called upon to stand in for the VPCDO at meetings of shared governance bodies and in other public settings.

Degree and Area of Specialization:

Master's degree required. Terminal degree and/or J.D. preferred.

Minimum Years and Type of Relevant Work Experience:

At least 7-10 years in higher education or another complex organization with experience in research, legal, management and/or program planning.
HIGHLY DESIRABLE:
* Leadership experience in higher education or another complex organization in the area of diversity and inclusion * Leadership experience in assessment and research relative to diversity and inclusion *Leadership experience with Affirmative Action and/or Disability Services* Leadership experience in supervision and administrative services

In achievement and prestige, the University of Wisconsin–Madison has long been recognized as one of America's great universities.
