Educational and Experience Requirement:

Bachelor’s degree with a major in Computer Science Management Information Systems (MIS), Computer Information Systems (CIS), business, finance, or related field from an accredited institution with two years relevant experience required. Experience in financial reporting, Ellucian Banner, or Oracle database experience is desirable. Experience in Cognos report writing required. Experience with business processes and operations is preferred. A combination of education, experience, certifications, and training that would produce the required knowledge and abilities could be considered.

Nature & Purpose of Position:

*Designs and builds Business Intelligence front end reporting and
dashboards utilizing all possible information delivery channels.
*This includes researching data availability and format, designing reports,
and publishing the reports.
*Advances financial data integrity and works with end users to
follow through with associated action items.
*Responsible for framework modeling, report writing (relational and multidimensional), and creating dashboard components using the
Cognos suite of products.
*Works closely with business users to verify data requirements and access
needs.
*Develops report templates and implements BI standards.
*Any other duties as may be assigned or required.

Primary Responsibilities:

Analyzes financial data and answers business questions by writing reports, dashboards, scorecards, and Structured Query Language (SQL) against relational and dimensional sources. Performs complex analysis of client issues to support solution engineering. Designs complex solutions. Addresses issues using agile methodology. Assists with complex requirements gathering from external staff. Assists with facilitation of meetings. Communicates effectively with internal and external constituents. Implements and develops test plans. Develops training materials. Facilitates design sessions to capture or solicit user needs and requirements. Sets action items and communicates progress to participants and stakeholders. Develops reporting solutions or objects to help answer business needs of the university and communicates progress with clients and stakeholders. Maintains Data Dictionary, reports specifications, and updates metadata. Generates package documentation for professional and business authors. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Requires a demonstrated ability to establish relationships within technical and functional areas. Independently identifies and reports areas of process improvements. Implements complex policies and broad standards affecting one or more functional areas. Work requires a considerable level of judgment and reasoning to solve issues. Work requires attention to detail as errors can be serious. Must possess in depth knowledge of business processes for an area.
