Duties Performed in the Usual Course of the Job:• Oversee daily operations of the unit, including the budget
• Work with Dean of COHS and University administration to secure resources
• Serve as School of Nursing (SON) representative on University committees/councils
• Supervise SON faculty and staff members
• Collaborate with faculty, staff, and other stakeholders to accomplish the mission, goals and expected outcomes of the SON
• Build and maintain relationships with clinical agencies and area schools of nursing
• Maintain an environment conducive to the teaching/learning process
• Facilitation of faculty recruitment, development, evaluation, and retention
• Build and support relationships with the community
Earned doctorate in Nursing, or a related discipline from an accredited institution. If doctorate is other than Nursing, a MSN is required.
Experience Required for the Position:• Must hold an active, or be eligible for, an unencumbered Texas RN license
• Teaching and research background meriting appointment at the level of Full Professor
• Minimum of two years administration experience in a school of nursing
• Minimum of three years of teaching experience in a University
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Experience in and knowledge of accreditation standards/processes for nursing programs
• Demonstrated success as a leader; ability to recruit and develop talent; create and meet budgets; work collaboratively
• Graduate level teaching experience preferred
• PhD in Nursing preferred
• Background with schools of medicine, public health or health professions preferred
• Experience in the development and implementation of new programs in nursing preferred
• Active involvement in relevant professional associations; regional/national/international reputation as a leader within the field preferred
• Experience in writing and managing grants preferred

The School of Nursing is located at The Woodlands Center campus approximately 40 miles south of the main campus in Huntsville, TX. The successful candidate will be expected maintain a campus presence as part of the School of Nursing faculty.
