Director of Medicinal Chemistry and Research Associate Professor / Research Professor

Description of the position:

The Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center (SCCC)and the Department of Pharmacology at the University Miller School of Medicine (MSOM) are recruiting a director of medicinal chemistry to enable and support an emerging integrated drug discovery program at MSOM and the developing Experimental and Translational Oncology Program at the SCCC. The candidate will be a research faculty (associate or full professor level) at the Department of Pharmacology and is expected to have extensive (minimum 10 years) demonstrated drug discovery and medicinal chemistry expertise in a pharmaceutical industry, biotech, or academic environment, including the development of clinical candidates (INDs) and appropriate project and risk management experience. As the candidate is expected to write and contribute to grant applications, a robust funding history and a solid record of peer-reviewed publications and patents are required. Medicinal chemistry projects will be highly computationally driven and leverage novel innovative big data and artificial intelligence approaches. The candidate should have demonstrated experience in such an integrated drug discovery setting. The successful candidate will interact closely with faculty at the SCCC and be a strong scientific contributor to the Experimental and Translational Oncology Program executing several drug development projects.
