The Office of Career and Professional Development offers resources that will help you effectively utilize your law degree as you navigate a changing job market. Seasoned professionals will regularly provide career information. OCPD collaborates with faculty on curricular and co-curricular programs that develop students’ understanding of their own skills and interests, the operational aspects of practicing law, the changing marketplace for legal services, and the range of practice pathways. We partner with students to facilitate the identification of professional interests and support the development of an individualized professional roadmap, using one-on-one discussions and group events. We’re here to guide you as you develop ideas and goals for your future career opportunities.

Position Summary

The Student Assistant – Career and Professional Development will manage the high-traffic Office of Career and Professional Development (OCPD) front desk assisting students, alumni, employers, and UNT Dallas College of Law faculty and staff. This is a high customer service position and excellent customer service skills are a must.
EXAMPLES OF WORK:

• Managing appointments;
• Assisting walk-in traffic;
• Answering OCPD phones;
• Managing and respond to Career Center email;
• Assisting students & alumni with Symplicity accounts;
• Assisting department staff with OCPD job postings;
• Providing support for other OCPD tasks, events, and projects;
• Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Currently enrolled UNT Dallas, HSC or UNT student in good standing and making satisfactory progress toward completion of a degree or certification program. Applicants must possess the following:

  • Excellent customer service skills, as well as effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office computer applications (i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Some knowledge of office practices and procedures.
  • Demonstrated ability to comprehend and follow oral and written instructions accurately.
  • Good interpersonal skills and ease in relating to people from varying educational, cultural and social backgrounds.
  • Responsible, reliable and punctual.
  • Ability to learn assigned tasks readily, to adhere to prescribed routines, and to develop some skill in the operation of common office equipment.
