Responsible for providing public announcements of team and campus activities for College of Coastal Georgia Athletics.

Essential Duties :

Public Address Announcement

  • Assists Sports Information Director in providing public address announcements in support of College of Coastal Georgia athletics activities.
  • Provides in-game commentary for any or all of the following sports: Men’s Basketball, Women’s Basketball, Volleyball, Softball
  • Provides pre-game commentary with sportsmanship announcements, player introductions, introduction of the National Anthem
  • Provides in-game announcements of game events, and scripted announcements during stoppages of play
  • Provides halftime announcements including game statistics and promotional events
  • Provides post-game announcements as directed
  • Assists in the execution of promotions to publicize “home” athletic events during contests.
  • Announces the execution of in-game promotional activities
  • Is familiar with software and technology to provide announcements and crowd entertainment during game stoppages by playing music and other entertainment activities through various technology sources
  • Coordinates with Sports Information Director to ensure game announcements and scripts are prepared and present for home events.
  • As directed by the designated game manager, provides announcements to crowd during the game to ensure a healthy, competitive atmosphere exists for all home athletic contests.
  • Provides announcements of other athletic or campus activities as provided in the game script
  • Provides enthusiastic energy to keep crowd engaged with College of Coastal Georgia teams

Play-by-play and/or Color Commentary

  • Provides in-game audio commentary through the videostreaming platform, radio or other audio media for any or all of the following sports: Men’s Basketball, Women’s Basketball, Volleyball, Softball.
  • Provides knowledgeable in-game commentary describing plays or factors affecting play
  • Provides updates on other athletic or campus activities as provided in the game script
  • As directed, conducts live or recorded interviews with key campus persons or other College of Coastal Georgia constituents or celebrities

Other Duties

  • Operate within the conference, national organization and College policies and rules
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Athletics, Sports Information Director or the assigned game manager
  • This position is designated by the Institution as a Position of Trust

Minimum Qualifications and Training:

  • Minimum qualifications include at least one year’s experience in broadcasting or broadcast journalism and experience in sports announcing for any or all of the following sports: volleyball, basketball, softball

Preferred Qualifications and Training:

A Bachelor’s degree or higher from a regionally accredited institution of higher education in communication, journalism, sports management or a related discipline along with more than one-year’s experience in athletics at the collegiate level is preferred
