Position Summary
The Director of Residential Education is responsible for the comprehensive Residential Education department. Specifically, the Director is responsible for the successful development, implementation and ongoing evaluation of all residential education functions and co-curricular programming. The Director oversees the management of all fiscal budgeting, student conduct, crisis response, and supporting the overall community within the residence halls. The Director reports to the Executive Director for Community and Residential Education. The Director must demonstrate a commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion and a demonstrated commitment to cross departmental, divisional and University collaboration.
Required Qualifications
- Master's degree in Student Affairs Administration or related field.
- 4 - 6 years of post-masters degree experience in Housing and Residential Education.
- 3 years of supervision experience.
- Experience with Assessment (e.g. program evaluation, assessment of the residential experience, continued student feedback, etc.).
- Proven commitment to advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion.
- Experience with Crisis Management.
Preferred Qualifications
- 8+ years of Housing and Residential Education experience.
- Experience supervising and recruiting a high performing, passion driven and culturally/socially diverse team.
- Demonstrated knowledge of assessing residence hall climate and the ability to implement change based on assessments.
- Proven ability to motivate, celebrate and encourage a team where expectations are high and resources are limited.
- Ability to be flexible in a fast-paced day-to-day operation.
- Proven ability to motivate, celebrate and encourage a team where expectations are high and resources are limited.
- Demonstrated ability to think critically about and focus on current issues facing higher education. Specifically, Title IX, campus climate, drugs and alcohol abuse and civil discourse with campus community. Ability to be flexible in a fast paced day-to-day operation.
- Talented in developing campus partnerships and skilled at advocating for the needs of the Residential Education.
