Location: Philadelphia, PA
Open Date: Feb 20, 2020
Deadline:

The University of Pennsylvania, School of Veterinary Medicine, Department of Clinical Sciences, and Advanced Medicine invites qualified individuals to apply for an exciting leadership position in the Primary Care Service. This faculty position will be in the University's Academic Clinician (AC) track at the rank of Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor, and will play a strategic role in growing this service. The position will focus on clinical patient care, education of veterinary students, training of rotating interns, and supervision of veterinary nurses. Potential for collaborative research abounds, but advancement within this faculty track does not include a research requirement.

The Primary Care Service is part of the Section of Primary Care Education, which also includes the Behavioral Medicine Service, the Exotic Companion Animal Medicine & Surgery Service, and the Shelter Medicine program. A large number of Diplomates of most AVMA-recognized specialty colleges support the Primary Care Service on a referral and consultative basis within the Ryan Hospital, one of the leading centers of clinical excellence in the nation. Our hospital's working environment is friendly, collegial, dynamic, and supportive. Clinicians within the Primary Care Service provide care to the pets of the University of Pennsylvania employees, working dogs from many public service institutions across the metropolitan area, and external clients.

The School of Veterinary Medicine is located amid a vibrant urban neighborhood that offers an abundance of cultural resources including music, art, theatres, and fine dining, and is well-situated in the Northeast corridor with convenient rail access to New York and Washington, DC. Philadelphia is also located in close proximity to mountains and beaches, which offer a wealth of recreational opportunities.
