The Department of Psychiatry at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania seeks candidates for an Assistant Professor position in the tenure track. Applicants must have an M.D. and/or Ph.D degree. Applicants must be board certified in psychiatry or a licensed clinical psychologist.

Teaching responsibilities may include lectures in the Brain and Behavior course for first-year medical students, in the psychopathology courses for psychiatric residents, and in the seminar for addiction clinical fellows, in addition to teaching research fellows in both psychiatry and radiology.

Research or scholarship responsibilities may include developing the candidate's own research program and expanding and directing an emerging an emerging program of molecular neuroimaging in the Department of Psychiatry ( The successful candidate will work collaboratively with faculty in other Penn departments, especially the Department of Radiology (, where the core faculty and infrastructure of the University's existing molecular imaging program are located.

The successful applicant will have an early track record of research applying molecular imaging methodology, especially PET, to the study of psychiatric disorders such as addiction, depression, schizophrenia, or other disorders to which molecular neuroimaging can be applied. Experience in developing and running clinical and translational studies in molecular imaging applied to the study of psychiatry is required, including a record of publication and extramural funding demonstrating the candidate's ability to lead an independent research program.

The Department of Psychiatry has an extensive program of research, including the application of novel imaging methods, molecular genetics, and pharmacogenetics to the study of psychiatric disorders. The successful candidate will work closely with molecular imaging faculty in the Department of Radiology, which houses two cyclotrons with associated cGMP areas for radiopharmaceutical production, 4 human PET/CT scanners, and a small animal and primate molecular imaging facility. A unique whole-body PET scanner, well suited for early translational PET studies, was recently completed and will be available for research in 2020. The PET Center at Penn has a rich research program and infrastructure in radiopharmaceutical development, PET imaging instrumentation, advanced image analysis, and extensive support for translational molecular imaging research, including human studies using investigational imaging probes.
