Maintain, configure, and monitor the storage systems and the associated backup and recovery services ITS provides to the campus - primarily the Health Big Data Project. This includes (SAN) Storage Attached Network storage, (NAS) Network Attached Storage, cloud-based storage and other centrally managed storage services. Ensure adequate data protection for different types of data.

Responsibilities also include evaluation of storage and backup systems and options and making recommendations for how to best meet the University's storage and backup needs. Research and evaluate current technologies in the storage and backup area. Provide technical advice and consultation to ITS staff and management about organizational needs in these areas. Responsible for working with management to devise storage and backup architecture strategy and design.

As part of the Health Big Data Project, work with FSU Libraries to provide technical support and expert guidance to internal and external customers regarding use of appropriate storage services. Collects and analyzes usage and performance data for storage and backup systems. Responsible for documenting operational procedures.

Works with ITS staff and Health Big Data Project Personnel to architect and build storage infrastructure for Health Big Data Projects including but not limited to cloud-based, HIPAA, human subjects data, NIST and other required compliance architectures.

Shares in the responsibilities for providing support 24x7, including participating in on-call rotation. Performs other duties as required.

Performs duties in compliance with ITS policies, guidelines, and processes pertaining to support requests, work orders, project management, change management, and incident management. Appropriately utilizes associated tools in accordance with ITS standards.Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, MIS, or other appropriate degree and four years experience or a combination of appropriate post high school education and experience equal to eight years.

Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.

Ability to convey technical information to technical and non-technical users.

Ability to document existing and new processes.

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.

Ability to utilize problem solving and technical skills.

Knowledge of standard programming languages, concepts, practices, and procedures within the technology field.

Ability to develop and implement policies, procedures, goals, and objectives.

Experience administering enterprise storage systems and infrastructure.

Knowledge to design and architect a storage solution that includes data protection and recovery.Preferred Experience with public cloud infrastructure as a service (AWS, Azure, GCP).

Experience with Linux and Windows server operating systems.

Experience with scripting, Ansible, PowerShell, or other automation tools.

Knowledge of compliance requirements for HIPAA, Human Subjects Data, or similar regulatory requirements.Pay Plan This is an A&P (Administrative and Professional) position.Soft Money Funded Position This position is time-limited based on soft money funding, with renewal contingent upon available funds and the needs of the University.Schedule If not otherwise specified, schedule is M-F, 8-5.Criminal Background Check This position requires successful completion of a criminal history background check.
