Job Summary/Basic Function:

Liberty seeks to hire a new faculty member to support the growth of the Cyber Security programs, to include Graduate and Undergraduate. Applications are encouraged for the ranks of Assistant, Associate, and Full Professor from well-qualified candidates with a PhD in Computer Science, an active research agenda related to cyber security, and experience in computer and network security.

This position teaches in both the Master of Science in Cyber Security program and the undergraduate Computer Science program. Duties include teaching Computer Science courses at 300, 400, 500, and 600 levels. These courses provide a wide range of computer science topics including (but not limited to):
-Introductory survey of computer science
-Studies in information security
-Principles of database management
-Principles of software engineering
-Programming languages (C, C++, and other languages to include web programming)
-Studies of the basic science and mathematics that underpin computer science

Duties also include maintaining curriculum, courses of study, and assessment work. Faculty will participate in the process of defining graduate Cyber Security curriculum. In this capacity, faculty are expected to:
-Assist in curriculum review and development
-Develop laboratories to support computer science curriculum
-Create projects designed to enhance lectures
-Read and stay abreast of current topics in computer science
-Develop syllabi and review textbooks for adoption
-Propose and develop new courses as determined appropriate by the faculty
-Actively participate in and support SACS and ABET accreditation preparation.

Faculty members are required by the University to:
-Teach contracted load
-Maintain office hours
-Mentor and advise students
-Keep timely records of grades, grade papers, and perform other administrative duties as needed.

Faculty member will perform other duties as assigned and actively participate in University assemblies and activities.

Minimum Qualifications:

This position requires a terminal degree in the field of Computer Science or a related technological discipline.

Candidates must have experience in the field of computer and network security, with preference given to candidates with industry experience in this area.

In addition to Cyber Security, candidates should have experience in one or more of the following areas: distributed systems architecture, programming theory, advanced programming (diverse languages), computer networking, software engineering, data structures and algorithm, database technologies, and computer architecture.

Applicants must demonstrate a personal faith commitment to the University’s evangelical Christian purpose.

Preferred Qualifications:

Preference will be given to candidates with SANS, GIAC, CEH and other industry security certifications accreditations. Additionally, knowledge of NSA/DHS National Center of Academic Excellence in Information Assurance and Cyber Defense certification process is highly desirable. Finally, published peer reviewed articles in the area of cyber defense are desired.
