Job Description Summary:The Human Resources/Career Services Student Assistant provides clerical support for the Office of Human Resources and Career Services.
Major Duties:•Filing documents and completing tasks in appropriately and timely manner.
•Greet Faculty, Staff, Students, and Visitors with courtesy and respect.
•Answering phones, answering questions within the student assistant’s job responsibilities, taking messages, and relaying messages to appropriate personnel.
•Preparing letters and mailings as assigned.
•Ensuring appropriate level of forms (examples: applications/career services materials/employment packets) are maintained.
•Assisting Director, Human Resources Technician, and Human Resources Coordinators with special projects as needed.
•Scanning documents into the document imaging system.
• Preparing employee id badges.
•Faxing.
•Pick up and deliver mail.
•Other duties as assigned.
•Ability to maintain strict confidentially.
•Ability to Multi-task.
•Good organizational, written, and oral communication skills.
•Ability to use copier, fax machine, and scanner.
•Basic computer knowledge/skills working with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Microsoft Outlook.
The Director Human Resources, Human Resources Coordinators, and Human Resources Technician assigns work in terms of general instructions. The supervisor spot-checks completed work for compliance with procedures, accuracy, and the nature and propriety of the final results.
Guidelines:Guidelines include college policies and procedures, and department policies. These guidelines are generally clear and specific, but may require some interpretation in application.
Complexity/Scope of Work:The work consists of related clerical duties. Strict regulations contribute to the complexity of the position.
The purpose of this position is to provide clerical support for the human resource functions of the college. Success in this position contributes to the efficiency, effectiveness, and regulatory compliance of all human resource operations.
Contacts:Contacts are typically with faculty, staff, students, and visitors.
Physical Demands:The work is typically performed while sitting at a desk or table, or while intermittently sitting, standing, or stooping. The employee occasionally lifts light objects.
The work is typically performed in an office.

Minimum Qualifications:The Student must be enrolled in 6 credit hours with East Georgia State College and be in good academic standing.
Preferred Qualifications:Prior experience in the following areas:
• Clerical duties
• Scanning and indexing
• Confidential setting
