Under the general supervision of the Assistant Director of Information Technology, the incumbent provides support for a range of in-house applications, vendor specialized software applications, and other systems that support the work of the Division including SharePoint, Teams and other Office 365 tools, WordPress, Drupal, and the Student Life online learning platforms. The incumbent fully supports the operation of Health & Wellness Centre; performs some system administration work on Windows and Linux servers and undertakes special projects and assignments in other areas of the Division as required; provides some programming support for Student Life web-based applications; and provides shared client support for the rest of the Division.


Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related degree or a demonstrated combination of education and experience.


Minimum four (4) years related experience providing IT client services in a university or similar environment, including a minimum one (1) year related experience in supporting specialized, complex software systems. Previous experience in the administration of an electronic medical record system (EMR) required. Previous experience in supporting Office 365 (including Sharepoint, OneDrive, Teams, Excel), and WordPress a requirement. Some experience in TCP/IP networks, Linux and Windows Active Directory, SCCM and group policies required. Experience with ClockWork is highly desirable. Some familiarity with Quercus and Moodle LMS, Tableau, Crystal Reports a definite asset.


Excellent communication (both oral and written) and interpersonal skills. Demonstrated superior organizational and analytical/diagnostic skills. Incumbent must be self-motivated, results oriented, a quick learner with a strong service orientation. Demonstrated ability to work effectively both as part of a team of skilled professionals, but also as a team leader when required. Demonstrated ability to prioritize tasks and responsibilities, work well under pressure, meet strict deadlines and make sound judgments. Must be creative and have the ability to communicate technical concepts to persons with limited technical backgrounds. Fine motor skills to operate hand tools.

Must have a solid understanding and applied knowledge of AODA regulations and WCAG 2.1 guidelines. Must have practical knowledge of the following: HTML, CSS, jQuery, PHP, SQL, C#, WordPress, Apache, MS IIS, Excel.


Ability to work well independently as well as a team member in a multi-professional environment. Works well under pressure and can juggle competing demands and tight timelines. Minimum typing speed of 40 WPM.

Pay Scale Group & Hiring Zone: USW Pay Band 12 -- $69,730 with an annual step progression to a maximum of $89,172. Pay scale and job class assignment is subject to determination pursuant to the Job Evaluation/Pay Equity Maintenance Protocol.
