DescriptionTo provide support to the Department of Licensing.  The Trademark and Licensing Office is responsible for planning, managing. protecting and promoting the use of the University's names, logos, designs, trademarks, service marks and other identifying materials.

 

• Act as the prime liaison with the University’s licensing agent, The IMG College Licensing (IMGCL) for Martin, Chattanooga and the Health Science Center.
• Manages daily licensing operations for the Chattanooga, Martin, and Health Science Center campuses.
• Play a key role in developing and executing marketing campaigns to fulfill the programs mission.
• Maintain and grow the College Crafter Program for handmade goods adorned with protected University marks.
• Assist the Licensing Director in establishing strategic directions for the Trademark Licensing Program, particularly as it relates to growing the program of the Martin, Chattanooga, and Memphis campuses
• Maintain professional contact with peer institutions, licensing organizations, and trade organizations.
• The Assistant Licensing Director is responsible for maintaining the Licensing Office website as well as explaining the licensing process and policies to external communities, individuals and potential and current partners
• Work with the University community, manufacturers, retailers and general public to provide information regarding the University’s licensing program. This includes meeting with vendors about opportunities and ideas to grow their collegiate branding business for the schools in the University of Tennessee system
• Coordinate and conduct marketplace surveys in order evaluate the overall health of each brand and mark in the marketplace. This includes routine visits to the Martin and Chattanooga campuses and frequent Knoxville assessments



QualificationsEducation:  

Business, marketing, graphic design, sport management, retail & consumer sciences or other related field   

 

Experience:        

1-3 years increasingly responsible experience working in a trademark licensing program, retail operation and/or athletic program.  

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Strong interpersonal skills
Excellent communications skills- verbal and written
Experience and training in graphic arts and/or brand management
Proficient in MS Office and have some knowledge in the Adobe Creative Suite Understanding of trademark law and/or intellectual property management Experience working with retail promotions
Demonstrated ability to establish and sustain effective working relationships with internal and external groups
