Job DescriptionDepartment:Advancement OperationsPay Rate Type:SalaryEmployee Type:Job Summary:The senior associate director of advancement operations is responsible for oversight of three key areas within Advancement Operations: data management, Blackbaud product support and training, and division policy and procedure maintenance. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Serve the department as a an expert resource on using suite of Blackbaud products and troubleshooting data and/or procedural constraints
  • Take leadership role in application training and internal documentation development
  • Perform expert functional lead/gatekeeper support via phone and email to colleagues; identify and analyze all application, access, policy, procedural, and network related issues to recommend solutions and assist user with resolution
  • Oversee data distribution for external purposes; execute complex data queries, imports, and extractions
  • Maintain policy and procedure documentation related to Advancement Operations; collaborate with identified technical and functional experts to assist in the creation of and/or review of policy and procedures
  • Provide guidance and quality control for all data production and work collaboratively to improve procedures to make operations more efficient
  • Implement improvements to maximize advancement staff adoption and utilization of technology
  • Be proactive in identifying and suggesting opportunities to enhance the quality and usefulness of constituent data
  • Provide backup coverage including accounts and access creation, modification, maintenance, and deletion
  • Mentor and supervise the associate director and constituent services administrative assistant including recruiting, training, and evaluating
  • Enhance Raiser’s Edge (RE) data strategically and build operational efficiencies around event management, workflows, and other emerging functionality of RE NXT
  • Perform additional duties as assigned; duties, responsibilities, and activities may change at any time with or without notice

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree or the equivalent in education and experience; advanced degree a plus
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience working in a role supporting fundraising, preferably in a higher education setting
  • Working knowledge of Raiser's Edge, Raiser’s Edge NXT or other similar platform required, with understanding of relational databases and/or report writing experience preferred
  • Previous experience training end users preferred
  • Proven ability to analyze and synthesize complex information and use it to develop and coordinate systems to improve efficiency
  • Talent to learn new technology quickly and educate and train others
  • Able to handle numerous projects on an ongoing basis while addressing daily required activities
  • High-level knowledge of constituent databases, workflows, documentation, data integrity, and quality control
  • Superb written and oral communication skills
  • Advanced knowledge of development activities with particular emphasis on database management, advancement services/operations, advancement related policies, and procedures
  • An entrepreneurial spirit, proactive planner, engaged learner, and creative problem solver with a positive attitude
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills to create, advance, and evaluate strategic initiatives
  • Knowledge of current technology tools, applications, and systems
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a team, establish priorities, and work collaboratively as a member of a diverse community

KEY RELATIONSHIPS:

Reporting to the director of advancement operations, this position will have direct contact with the entire Division of College Advancement team as well as cross-campus partners in the Colby Museum of Art, Office of Admissions and Financial Aid, Office of Financial Services, and Department of Athletics. This position has significant interaction with faculty, staff, students, and outside vendors.

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

General open office and campus environment. Position involves sitting, although frequent movement is necessary. Computer usage involving repetitive hand/wrist motion is also necessary. This position will be located in downtown Waterville.
