This role will be instrumental in supporting the clinical research enterprise as well as a broad range of clinical trial research disease teams (14 disease teams). This position is also supports the UACC Support Grant (P30). This role will work to assist in the support and expansion of OnCore within the Cancer Center in collaboration with IT teams, the UAHS OnCore administrator, system users, other analysts, and vendors to ensure that the technology applications in use at UACC functionality meets UACCs operational needs. This role will be required to support integration and execution for optimal results, using common healthcare data exchange formats (e.g. HL7, FHIR, CCDA).

The UACC Clinical Trials Office is a centralize unit supporting interactions with sponsors and UAHS campus administrative units. Duties & Responsibilities

The clinical research administration works closely with colleagues in a fast-paced environment and UACC utilizes several technological solutions in the operational enterprise of clinical research (OnCore Enterprise CTMS, EVAL, e-Binders). 

  • Establishes, guides, and supports the development, compilation, maintenance, and documentation of computer software systems, vendor-supplied packaged programs, macros, utilities, data communications programs, system integration with campus legacy system and other highly technical programs with user departments, vendors, and data centers. Manage and conduct system validation of new releases.
  • Establishes and monitors program priorities, objectives, and procedures, determining area objectives, targets of service, and needs of resource allocation. Establish and guide the investigation and analysis of computer equipment and related software; supplies management with documentation of advantages and disadvantages.
  • Reviews established security approach and standards for infrastructure and applications. Identify security risks and mitigation approaches, using internal and external sources as appropriate. Manage access to OnCore including activation and deactivation.
  • Demonstrates a functional knowledge of system administration as well as functionality required to support UACC projects and help to set standards in technologies, research tools and applications and to be able to communicate all of this in a clear and concise manner.
  • Contributes in testing and quality assurance process. Collaborates with developers and end-users to ensure that application functionality meets client needs. Tests solutions, problem-solve issues, and coordinate enhancements. Gather business requirements; creating functional specifications; and identifying, documenting, and resolving design issues.
  • Supports the preparation of reports for management and users. Supports metrics integration and execution for optimal results. Plans and communicates the departmental readiness plan.
  • Develops and maintains Jasper Reports across platforms including integration between multiple systems (MS SQL, Oracle, Analytics, etc.), business logic to write Oracle and MS SQL scripts, XML feeds for the web.
  • Documents the “as is” and “to be” business processes using standard process modeling tools and process improvement methodologies.
  • Serves as an escalation point for the most challenging support issues. Formally track issues. Contact product vendor when needed to resolve issues.
  • Works with staff resolving issues in supported technological solutions. Provide expertise, input, and support for new and ongoing implementation projects, lead technology demonstrations and Q & A sessions for groups within the UACC research community and attend team meetings upon request. Measure user satisfaction and work to improve user satisfaction.
  • Analyzes customer needs, design, and implement solutions that may require technical, process, and material documentation changes or novel solutions. Coordinate with multiple stakeholders to ensure success. Track enhancement request and submit them to product vendor.
  • Provides electronic data capture form development and maintenance services.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Up to 1 year of relevant work experience may be required.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent advanced learning attained through experience required.
Preferred Qualifications•Have a working knowledge of Oracle PL/SQL, MS SQL, Java Scripts, HTML, XML, PHP, R, JSON, and MS Office.•Possess experience and responsibility in all phases of the “software development lifecycle” (analysis, design, coding, testing, implementation, and maintenance).•Have working experience with API and Web service design, development, and enabling technologies and be able to demonstrate an understanding of computer systems and software application implementation.•Experience working with a CTMS or health research data management system.•Experience working with reporting and web / back-end development in an academic setting. Ability to create and maintain data discrepancy reports.•Possess excellent interpersonal communication, project management, organization, and planning skills.•The ability to manage complex technical details and communicate technical concepts to non-technical staff.•The ability to use analytical and quantitative skills and diagnostic techniques to resolve problems.•Demonstrated ability to work independently in a manner that is effective and efficient.
