The University of Arizona Department of Environmental Science and UA Global have an agreement with Northwest Agriculture and Forestry University (NWAFU) in Yangling, China to develop and offer a microcampus B.S. degree program in Environmental Science at NWAFU beginning September 1, 2020. Classes taught by UA faculty (56 units) providing the core Environmental Science Curriculum will be delivered in English beginning in September 2021. The remaining ca. 105 units (related prerequisites, general education, and selective courses) will be offered by NWAFU faculty. The program will lead to a dual UA-NWAFU degree, including a B.S. in Environmental Science from UA. The position rank will be decided at the time of offer depending on qualifications.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Direct the initiation of the B.S. ENVS microcampus program on the NWAFU campus.
  • Collaborate with UA and NWAFU faculty to develop a program that leverages existing strengths on both campuses.
  • Teach ca. 18 units of ENVS coursework to NWAFU-based undergraduate students per year.
  • Assist UA Department of Environmental Science faculty in hiring the remaining NWAFU-based team of microcampus faculty.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Ph.D. in Environmental Science or related field. 
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in the design, development, and teaching of quality courses at the college/university level.
  • Experience in demonstrating the ability to inspire, engage, and motivate students.
  • Experience in demonstrating competency in communicating in the Mandarin language.
