The Atmospheric Science Department at the University of Miami Rosenstiel School of Marine

and Atmospheric Science is seeking a Post-Doctoral Associate to work on a NOAA funded

project on ‘Examining the causes of trends in the context of a variable subpolar North Atlantic

Ocean.’ The successful applicant will assist in leading a team project to quantify the relative

roles of different ocean and atmosphere processes in driving variability and trends in North

Atlantic Ocean temperatures and associated climate impacts. Additional duties include the

development of a hierarchy of ocean components embedded in CESM, analyzing observational

data and climate model output and communicating findings in written and oral form. Will also

assist in supervising grad and undergrad students.

A Ph.D. in ocean or atmospheric science is required. Must possess, strong quantitative and

programming skills, experience with running the Community Earth System Model or other

atmosphere or ocean general circulation models, and strong oral and written communication

skills.
