Job Description

The Floors, Projects, and Rapid Response Technician is responsible for performing project related duties including stripping, waxing, spraying, scrubbing, and shampooing to maintain a wide variety of floor types and coverings, window washing, special events cleanup as well as responding to customer calls. The Floors, Projects, and Rapid Response Technician performs cleaning of hard floor and carpeted surfaces of offices, restrooms, lobbies, hallways, cafeterias, and other general use areas per specific customer request, work orders, and preventative maintenance schedules.

Essential Functions:

  • Cares for floors including vacuuming, mopping, stripping/waxing floors, regular floor maintenance, carpet spotting, carpet extraction, and carpet maintenance.

  • Loads and unloads cleaning equipment and supplies.

  • Moves obstacles and furniture.

  • Cleans equipment after completion of work.

  • Meets company standards for customer satisfaction.

  • Drives company vehicles when required.

  • Responds to customer calls and immediately responds; calls may include hazards such as broken glass or bodily fluids.

Required Education, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

  • Ability to read and understand safety procedures, cleaning instructions, and schedules.

  • Ability to communicate effectively with students, faculty, and staff.

  • Ability to prioritize cleaning issues as needed.

  • Knowledge of hard surface floors and carpet care, operation of floor care machinery.

  • Experience operating floor equipment alone (scrubbers, buffers, extractors, etc.).

  • Ability to work the assigned shift hours.

  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen and criminal background check.

  • Ability to meet the requirements of the University’s automobile insurance.

  • High school graduate plus one year of work experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and abilities can be acquired.

  • Basic Floor Care Course or one to three months related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
