Job description

Job Title: Clinical Instructor, Assistant/Associate/Full Professor of Clinical Radiology (NTT)-MSK
Location: Columbia
Full/Part Time: Full-Time
Job ID: 34101
Job Description

The University of Missouri has an opening for an ABR certified and fellowship trained MSK radiologist. Unranked, non-regular or or non-tenure track. The position involves diagnostic MRI, CT, US, imaging-guided MSK procedures and plain film. Faculty rank and position will be commensurate with credentials and experience. The faculty member will have the opportunity to assist in the growth of the radiologic services, education of medical students, residents and fellows, as well as participate in research and scholarly activities.

The MSK radiology service is based in the Missouri Orthopedic Institute (MOI), which is central Missouri’s largest freestanding orthopedic center. MOI has just completed phase 1 of a $40 million expansion, and the orthopedic department is growing rapidly, creating a need for expansion of the MSK radiology section. MSK faculty work closely with an academic and highly subspecialized orthopedic department as well as other departments in the university and the community. MU is a level 1 Trauma center serving a wide catchment area in central Missouri. The available equipment is state-of-the-art and includes a 3T Siemens Skyra scanner as well as 4 additional 1.5T magnets. Two 3T magnets are scheduled to be added to the system. Approximately 300,000 exams are performed each year serving the University Hospital & Clinics, Ellis Fischel Cancer Center, and Women’s and Children’s Hospital and an imaging center.

The University of Missouri has a rich tradition in strong clinical and educational programs. Under the direction of our chair, Talissa Altes, the Department of Radiology is engaging in an expansion of clinical, educational and research opportunities for faculty and trainees. Applicants with an interest in education or research/scholarship strongly desired.

MU is one of the few institutions in the country with colleges of medicine, veterinary medicine, agriculture, engineering, nursing and health professions on one campus. At MU's comprehensive academic medical center, scientists join clinicians in producing lifesaving discoveries and delivering them
to patients through a far-reaching network of hospitals, clinics, and telehealth sites. MU has more than280 degree programs, 34,255 students and 250,000 alumni. The School of Medicine's more than 650 faculty physicians and scientists educate more than 1,000 medical students, residents, fellows and other students seeking advanced degrees. http://medicine.missouri.edu

MU is located in picturesque Columbia, Missouri, a lovely small, university town in mid-Missouri near the Missouri river valley where the Ozark Mountains meet the plains. In addition to the University of Missouri, Columbia is home to Stephens and Columbia College. Columbia is known for fine dining, cultural activities, division 1 sports teams, excellent public schools, relatively low cost of living, pleasant climate and varied outdoor recreational activities. The region is home to numerous parks and boasts an extensive trail network. It is convenient to both St Louis and Kansas City.
