Senior Directors and Directors of Foundation Relations and Corporate Philanthropy

Job description

UCLA Development
Senior Directors and Directors of Foundation Relations and Corporate Philanthropy

The Centennial Campaign for UCLA, one of the most ambitious fundraising campaigns ever by a public university, recently concluded and raised $5.49 billion making it the largest campaign for a public university and one of the largest capital campaigns across universities. For the past 100 years, UCLA has been a pioneer, persevering through impossibility and turning the futile into the attainable. As UCLA looks forward into our next century, our campus, faculty, students and staff are driven by optimism which fuels our accomplishments and allows us to redefine what's possible, time after time.

As part of our foundation relations and corporate philanthropy vision, we are redefining our efforts, strengthening our team and staffing up to better work across units campus-wide as we exceed $1B per year in research and development expenditures. We are committed to building a robust central team to offer deep expertise in institutional giving and domain knowledge in areas such as science, engineering and social sciences, and to help bring major resources for work across various disciplines. As one of our Senior Directors or Directors of Foundation Relations and Corporate Philanthropy you will be a highly collaborative and strategic individual who can serve as an effective bridge between UCLA and funding entities who are committed to building a strong culture of partnership across the campus.

Working closely with the Executive Director, you will lead the development of strategic funding opportunities and will be responsible for securing funding from and growing partnerships with the university's highest levels of foundation, corporate and other organizational entities. You will provide service and leadership to the UCLA community by acting as a focused partner in developing, managing and sustaining relationships with key external partners and will contribute to the implementation of a strategic vision for a highly effective Foundation Relations and Corporate Philanthropy program at UCLA. As part of our central development team, you will partner closely with stakeholders across UCLA's college, graduate and professional schools, institutes and centers to secure significant support for funding priorities and will aggressively seek engagement for external funding for areas of excellence and cross-disciplinary initiatives that align with the interests of high-capacity donors.

As an ideal candidate, you will be a subject expert or have professional experience in priority areas such as physical sciences, life sciences, engineering, or social sciences, with the ability to articulate academic content and values to sophisticated philanthropic organizations. Coming from a variety of domains, you will either have prior university foundation and corporate relations experience, deep foundation experience, be a transitioning post-doctoral researcher, or experience in a similar capacity with large scale institutional engagement and funding. You will have a deep interest in and ability to synthesize research and funding priorities, superior ability to link funding needs to donor interests and to build strategic cases for funding. You will have outstanding communication and interpersonal skills as well as a strong entrepreneurial and creative spirit. This is a phenomenal opportunity to be part of highly dynamic organization with ambitious goals and to redefine UCLA's Office of Foundation Relations and Corporate Philanthropy as we move into our second century of possibilities.
