Minimum Qualifications:

Masters degree in nursing with three (3) years of relevant, recent clinical experience within area of specialty.

Purpose of Job:

Carry out duties and responsibilities that are designed to contribute to achievement of the established outcomes for the undergraduate departments.

Scope of Responsibilities:

Responsibilities include didactic and/or clinical instruction within content areas of expertise, participation in curriculum development, and facilitating the procurement of clinical sites for clinical experiences. The faculty is accountable to the Director of Undergraduate Nursing Programs for carrying out the duties and responsibilities designed to contribute to the achievement of the established objectives of the University, SON, and department.

Essential Job Functions :

•Implements appropriate instructional methodologies to foster and promote the teacher-learning processes.
•Facilitates the development of course objectives, outlines, and students’ performance expectations.
•Maintains prescribed clinical and classroom teaching assignments.
•Grades assignments, provides feedback and post grades according to University guidelines.
•Assesses the instructional needs of students in the program and help coordinate the development of a plan to address these needs.
•Cooperates with other faculty in carrying out activities designed to enhance the quality of instruction, within the department/university.


•A Master’s degree in nursing is required.
•One year of clinical experience as a registered nurse.
•Must satisfy a criminal history background check.
•Experience in undergraduate education preferred; skill in on-line education a plus.

Licensing and Certifications :

•Candidates must be eligible for or currently licensed to practice nursing in the State of Mississippi. Selected candidates must complete the State of Mississippi Registered Nurse licensure process prior to appointment.
•National certification in an area of clinical specialty or nursing education is desired.

•Experience in nursing education
