The School of Marketing, Entrepreneurship, Sport Management, and Hospitality & Tourism Management (MESH), one of three schools in the College of Business, invites applications for an Assistant Professor tenure-track nine month faculty position in Entrepreneurship. Anticipated begin work date is August 2021. Review of applications will begin immediately and will continue until a candidate has been selected for hire.

The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to contribute to the mission of the Entrepreneurship program, which seeks to prepare graduates to be Business Ready® to meet the needs of the industry and become leading professionals in their field. The mission is achieved through sound theoretical course work, research and innovative learning activities, industry engagement and service learning.

This position requires teaching courses at the undergraduate and graduate level, delivering experiential and applied learning to students, teaching both online and face-to-face courses, advising, and service activities. The normal teaching load is 18 semester hours per academic year.

Successful candidate will engage in scholarly research leading to publication in quality journals. About the Entrepreneurship Programs and University:
Established in 2004, the Master of Entrepreneurship (M.E.) degree was the first in the nation. In 2005, the United States Association for Small Business and Entrepreneurship (usasbe.org) ranked the M.E. in first place as the best master’s-level entrepreneurship program. It has also been recognized as one of the five best entrepreneurship programs in the nation by Fortune Small Business magazine. The online undergraduate Bachelor of Science in Entrepreneurship degree has been ranked as the number eight program in the nation by BestColleges.com. Western Carolina University is a regional comprehensive university located in Cullowhee, NC, in a scenic rural valley between the Blue Ridge and Great Smoky Mountains. Cullowhee is 50 miles west of Asheville, NC, and 2 ½ hours north of Atlanta. WCU’s College of Business is AACSB accredited.

Minimum Qualifications

A Ph.D. in Entrepreneurship or an appropriate business field from an accredited institution or a terminal degree in a closely related field.

Preferred Qualifications

Professional entrepreneurship industry experience and evidence of professional and community service.

The ability to teach in multiple Entrepreneurship content areas and relevant professional experience are preferred.
