Position Title:

Instructional Designer

Position Description:

The Teaching and Learning Center at Rider University seeks an Instructional Designer, to work closely with faculty teaching in all modalities including remote, technology enhanced face-to-face courses, online and hybrid courses and programs. Reporting directly to the Director, the Instructional Designer will work with faculty in the design and development of remote, online, blended and face-to-face courses using the best available technologies and most appropriate pedagogical approaches to ensure that students have the most effective, valuable, and efficient learning experience possible.

• Consult with faculty in designing, revising, implementing, and assessing teaching strategies in all formats—remote, face-to-face, blended, and on-line
• Provide guidance to faculty to support the creation of learning experiences in all formats—remote, face-to-face, blended, and on-line
• Provide guidance to faculty to support the creation of equitable and fully accessible learning experiences in all formats—face-to-face, blended, and on-line

• Develops and delivers various formats of workshops, and develops self-paced training program
• Assists faculty in effectively delivering online courses integrating instructional technologies and best practices to enrich the student experience
• Develops and presents workshops for faculty focused on culturally relevant, equitable, and accessible instructional methods and technologies
• Assist in the evaluation of new tools to facilitate instruction
• Maintains knowledge of current trends in instructional methods and theory, assessment techniques, teaching tools and technologies, universal design, culturally relevant and inclusive pedagogical strategies
• Create and maintain resources for faculty on pedagogy, course design, tools and techniques for online teaching and learning
• Collaborate, and foster dialogue, with TLC staff and other campus stakeholders to support the development of online learning and student success
• Support and develop programs that encourage the integration of inclusive teaching and practice
• Consult with individual faculty on a wide variety of issues related to inclusion, diversity and equity in learning and teaching contexts

Position Requirements:

• 3 to 5 years of demonstrated experience in a higher education setting
• Experience in collaboration with office of information technology to provide seamless support for technology use
• Demonstrated collaboration experience with others

Position Preferred Qualifications/Experience:

• Strongly preferred Master’s degree in an area focused on Instructional Design, Learning Design & Technology, Curriculum and Instruction, Online Education or related field
• At least two years teaching experience
• Experience designing, implementing, and assessing innovative and effective teaching strategies in their own classroom or as an instructional designer
• Thorough knowledge of evidence-based inclusive teaching practices, and Universal Design for Learning (UDL)
