The UCLA Institute for Research on Labor and Employment seeks applications for part-time, non-tenure track lecturer positions during the 2020-21 academic year. Lecturer appointments are established according to the instructional needs and budget constraints of the department. Quarter academic appointment dates are as follows:

Winter: January 1-March 31 st (remote online teaching available)
Spring: April 1-June 30th

We are looking for instructors that can teach one or more of the following courses:
  • 101 Introduction to Labor and Social Movements in Los Angeles
  • 153 Stories of Struggle: Work, Class, and Narrative in Contemporary America
  • 188 Labor and Public Higher Education: Campus Workers, Working Students, and Public Good
  • 194B Anatomy of a Dream: The Past, Present, and Future of DACA (Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals)
  • 188 How to Create Worker-Owned Cooperative Business
    special topics in African American Studies
  • M166A Immigrant Rights, Labor and Higher Education
  • M166B Research on Immigration Rights, Labor, and Higher Education
  • 188 Storytelling for Activists and Organizers
  • M173 Nonviolence and Social Movements
  • 181 Los Angeles Labor and Social Science Research Principles, Methods, and Practices
    and other topics in Labor Studies as needed by the Interdepartmental Program.

    Applications will be kept on file for consideration for any openings that may occur throughout the year. Responsibilities will include lecturing, conducting regularly scheduled office hours, and the writing and grading of assignments and exams. Must be able to teach in the classroom and/or online.

    Ph.D. or terminal degree preferred, but not required. Applicants who are advanced to Ph.D. candidacy or who have a M.A., MF.A., or equivalent may be considered (currently enrolled UC students are not considered). Priority will be given to candidates with a demonstrated commitment to excellence in teaching Labor Studies, research methodology, or proven industry expertise in labor. Please indicate your areas of specialization.

    Terms and conditions of employment are subject to UC policy and any appropriate collective bargaining agreement. Salary based on qualifications.
    This is an ongoing search and applications will be considered for the 2020-2021 academic year on a rolling basis, as dictated by departmental needs.

    UCLA is a public research university located in the Westwood neighborhood of Los Angeles, California.
