The Department of Public Health invites applications for a continuing faculty status track (BYU's equivalent of tenure track) position of assistant, associate or full professor rank. The Department of Public Health is housed within the College of Life Sciences. A Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Public Health with four emphasis areas (health science, epidemiology, health promotion, environmental/occupational health) is offered in the department as well as the Master of Public Health (MPH) degree. The department is composed of 20 full-time faculty members. For further information about the department, see https://ph.byu.edu/.

Experience: Eligible candidates must possess a doctoral degree or relevant terminal degree in (1) public health, (2) a related behavioral/social science, or (3) a terminal degree in a closely related field with appropriate master's level training in public health or closely aligned allied health field. For applicants currently matriculating in a terminal degree program, degree must be completed prior to position start date. Applicants should have and describe a plan for inspiring learning through mentoring and teaching undergraduate and graduate students as well as demonstrate the ability to establish a research agenda by conducting quantitative and/or qualitative research. Experience teaching public health courses and working with underrepresented minorities in health-related settings is preferred.

Duties/Expectations: Teaching responsibilities primarily include courses on health promotion, health systems, and health policy in the undergraduate and/or graduate program. Undergraduate courses may include Advanced Evaluation Methods; Principles and Practices of Health Promotion; Health Communication and Advocacy; Introduction to Planning, Interventions, and Evaluation; Influencing Health through Health Systems and Policy. Additional responsibilities include conducting and publishing high quality research in the fields of health promotion, health systems or health policy; mentoring undergraduate and graduate students; and providing service to the profession, university, and community.
