The Lamar University Social Work program, which offers BSW degrees, invites applications from candidates who have a strong background in Social Work for an Instructor position. An MSW and 2-years post-MSW experience are required at the time of appointment, prospective work toward a doctorate preferred. Expertise in macro-level practice, healthcare, and/or research preferred.
Candidates must show a commitment to undergraduate teaching and advising. The candidate will be expected to teach a variety of courses in the Social Work curriculum, advise students, engage in community service, serve on committees and supervise student research. Preference will be given to applicants who have demonstrated quality teaching at the undergraduate level and have an understanding of CSWE accreditation requirements.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Candidates must be able to teach courses in topics such as: Research Methods, Introduction to Social Welfare, Mental Health, Social Work in Healthcare, Human Behavior (HBSE), Social Work Practice, Policy, and topical seminar courses. Candidates must demonstrate a strong commitment to excellent teaching and service. Additional responsibilities include student advising and services to the campus and community.
•A Master’s degree in Social Work (MSW) from an accredited university with two years’ post degree experience
•PhD in Social Work or prospective achievement of the doctorate. Consideration will be given to a doctorate in a related field.
•Teaching experience in a CSWE accredited Social Work program
•Social work license
•Experience with grant funded research
