Normal Work Schedule: The UA CV19 Support Program is open 8am – 8pm, 7 days a week and individual may be asked to work nights or weekends on occasion.

Job Summary: Continuation of this position will be contingent on funding and length of need of the program. The Medical Technologist will maintain and operate sophisticated medical lab equipment and perform clinical laboratory tests and evaluate the results of those tests.

Additional Department Summary: The UMC Lab Liaison-Medical Technologist is responsible keep communication open between the UA CV19 Support Program Disease Surveillance and Monitoring team and the lab at University Medical Center. This individual will help in both the Disease Surveillance and Monitoring activities as well the University Medical Center lab by performing needed lab responsibilities. Continuation of this position will be contingent on funding and length of need of the program.

Required Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology and one (1) year of experience in a clinical laboratory (professional internship in a certified school of Medical Technology will be acceptable experience). Successful completion of a national registry exam with the American Society of American Pathologists, or Clinical Laboratory Scientist with the National Board of Registry for Medical Technologists. Ability to operate personal computers and various laboratory information systems. Mechanical aptitude with clinical instrumentation.

Skills and Knowledge: Efficient and accurate computer and data entry skills. Excellent communication, public relations and customer service and telephone etiquette skills. Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced work environment. Desire to exemplify the core values and mission of the organization, always exercising utmost discretion, diplomacy and tact in patient/staff interactions. Willingness to learn and consistently deliver patient centered high quality customer friendly service in a diverse health care team. Understanding of the need for strict confidentially of protected health information and the requirement to follow HIPAA regulations at all times. Punctual and reliable, understanding that case care is paramount, and extended work hours are needed during busier times.
