Job Summary This is a full-time non-exempt position which reports to the Maintenance Director. This position is a key Plant Operations/Building Maintenance person responsible for maintaining the campus buildings, mechanical, electrical and life safety systems. Responsibilities PRINCIPAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- The Skilled Trades Worker maintains and installs building systems and components, including but not limited to; HVAC mechanical systems and their individual components, including a basic working knowledge of DDC controls, boilers, chillers and central plant theory and operation. Electrical systems with an operating voltage of less than 600 volts, including commercial lighting systems. Moves furniture, supplies and other campus assets. Performs work associated with in-house construction and renovation projects. Keeps routine records and makes routine reports. Assists with setup and breakdown of facilities for meetings, classes, conferences and events.Performs general building maintenance duties, such as repair doors and hardware, and various carpentry repairs.
- Strong oral and written communication and listening skills. Ability to work cooperatively and effectively with others.Ability to use various tools and equipment. Work independently and as part of a team.Reports to work punctually and follow a work schedule to keep up with the demands of the worksite. Ability to handle a large variety of details and to work with all levels of organization.Knowledge of facilities maintenance principles and practices.Knowledge of best practices and safety procedures.Knowledge of carpentry repair and construction principles.Skill in the safe and efficient operation of a variety of hand and power tools.Skill in decision making and problem solving.Skill in interpersonal relations and in dealing with the public.Skill in oral and written communication.
