Kennesaw State University is now accepting applications for a nine-month, tenure track Assistant Professor of Science Education faculty position in the Department of Elementary and Early Childhood Education that begins August 2020.

The Assistant Professor of Science Education is expected to:
-Teach undergraduate science content courses for elementary preservice teachers and other related courses at the undergraduate and/or graduate level as needed
-Maintain an active research agenda
-Provide service to the department, college, university, community, and profession 
-Model effective teaching practices and use instructional technology appropriately

The ideal candidate will have:
-Experience teaching at the university level
-Experience or expertise in physical science content
-Evidence of teaching and working with a culturally and ethnically diverse community 
-Experience or expertise in STEM education
-Experience or expertise in teaching another elementary area (e.g., early childhood, math, literacy, or social studies education;  technology, educational foundations, or  ESOL). 
-Experience teaching and developing online courses 
-Active involvement in professional organizations
-Three or more years of teaching at the elementary and/or early childhood level

Required Education - Experience - Skills (Minimum Qualifications):

-Doctorate in Science Education or Curriculum and Instruction with a focus in Science Education or closely related field or the foreign equivalent, completed by 8/1/2020
-18 hours in science content at the graduate level
-Experience teaching in PK-12
-Evidence of scholarly activity
-Commitment to diversity and collaboration

The primary mission of the Department of Elementary and Early Childhood Education is to provide quality teacher education programs with an emphasis on both content knowledge and pedagogical practices. The department is committed to developing excellence in teaching for culturally, linguistically, and economically diverse learners (birth through five and pre-kindergarten through fifth grade) through programs of scholarship, research, and service, as well as locally and globally engaged partnerships. The department serves over 1,500 Elementary and Early Childhood Education undergraduate students and over 100 graduate students including an online M.Ed. in Early Childhood Education.
