Terminal degree in music field and teaching and leadership experience.

Purpose of Job

Lead the department of Fine Arts, teach six hours of music courses per semester, conduct research and lead the department in implementing the university’s vision for excellence in teaching, research and service.

Scope of Responsibilities

Provide departmental leadership to support operational functions, maintain accreditation, maintain current curriculum, encourage and facilitate faculty and student research, support activities for community engagement, improvement infrastructure and facilitate the growth of the department.

Essential Job Functions

• Conduct regular Departmental meetings
• Manage the daily operations of the Department
• Teach six hours of music courses per semester
• Actively engage in student advisement
• Engage in research and/or creative pursuits
• Engage in and facilitate fundraising pursuits
• Form committees and teams
• Respond to student, faculty, and staff inquiries in a timely manner
• Participate in School and University initiatives and attend required meetings

Qualifications

• Terminal degree in music
• At least seven years of teaching and research experience at the University level
• Demonstrated effectiveness in fundraising and project management
• Demonstrated effectiveness in Department Chair role is preferred

• Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
• Administrative ability to serve as Chairperson
• Knowledge of NASM standards and accreditation requirements
• Team building skills
• Delivery of modern, student-centered pedagogy
• Record of integrity
• Ability to use word processing, spreadsheet, and database software
• Proficient as a musician
