As an Instructor recognized by NY State Office of Professional Development, the Health Care Instructor prepares students to successfully complete the New York State Nurse Assistant and Home Health Aide certification exams by following College’s established syllabus and training program. Instruction last 4 to 6 weeks per class with classes scheduled on an as-needed basis.
A. Education: Current NY State Licensed Registered Nurse required.
B. Experience: A minimum of two years of work experience caring for the elderly or chronically ill is required with a minimum of one year of experience providing home health care services preferred.
C. Other Required Skills: Strong organizational skills, excellent interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to promote/coordinate health care educational services in accordance with nursing professional standards and philosophical/legal boundaries of the College. Proven ability to assist learners in implementing new health care skills effectively in a classroom and clinical setting. Must be able to assess, implement, evaluate and revise evidence-based strategies for student learning outcomes. Commitment to excellence in teaching, student advisement, classroom management and learning outcomes assessment. Ability to deliver a variety of instructional methods and technologies.
