We are currently seeking a Clinical Worker for Student Health Services at FAU. The Clinical Worker is part of a dynamic team which provides medical care to university students. This position will require the Clinical Worker to provide services at all 3 SHS clinics.
Responsibilities:
Clinical Care:
- Independently screens and evaluates symptoms of students/patients in our clinic during office visits. Provides care and treatment and counsels for minor illnesses and injuries, exercising independent judgment following guidelines. Documents all patient findings and nursing actions in the student's chart and other records as appropriate. Maintains confidentiality of records and of individuals' personal health information at all times.
- Performs treatments and procedures ordered by the physicians and advanced registered nurse practitioners and physician assistant as needed. Assists with procedures and examinations as necessary.
- Administers medications following guidelines and as requested by providers.
- Triages sick patients via phone and walk in visits. Independently screens and evaluates symptoms of students and determines next step in their care.
- Triaging incoming patient calls from front desk staff re: medications, referrals etc. Responsible for appropriate counselling as well as discussion with supervising MD/NP/PA when appropriate.
- Assisting MD/NP/PA with appropriate follow up. This may include following up on specific labs, communicating with lab vendors and calling patients when appropriate.
- Participation in delivery of immunizations, medications and lab draws.
- Assists in maintaining supply levels in the clinics and with the maintenance of equipment in clean and operative condition. Checks emergency equipment and supplies as assigned. Assists in inventory of medications as assigned.
- Assist with flu clinics, COVID-19 testing, respiratory care, and outreach efforts.
- Support university-wide case and contact tracking efforts to communicate with COVID-19- related FAU members and their contacts to document symptom screening, refer for testing according to established protocols, to provide them with instructions for quarantine or isolation, and to provide medical clearances. Follow all scripts, policies and procedures provided by FAU Student Health Services (SHS) and comply with university training regarding confidential information.
Administrative:
- Assists with front desk duties including greeting patients upon arrival, checking appointment status, verifying eligibility and insurance, completing check-in/check-out procedures, verifying that confidential documents are updated in EHR.
- Maintain confidentiality of medical records and of patients'/student' personal health information at all times.
- Answer in person and telephone inquiries.
- Collects and review documents to determine compliance.
- Operates scanning equipment to process immunization documents. File documents as necessary.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential to success in this position.
Must be proficient in Microsoft Office programs such as Word, Outlook, PowerPoint and Excel.
