Description:

The Department of Physics at the University of Florida is searching for a postdoctoral assistant to work on the installation and commissioning of the heterodyne detection system for the ALPS II detector. ALPS or the Axion-like Particle Search experiment is a light-shining-through a wall experiment that is located at DESY in Hamburg, Germany.

The successful candidate is expected to have relevant experience in laser interferometry, in length/frequency and alignment sensing and control and/or analog and digital control systems. Depending on the specific experience and the needs of the project, the candidate will lead one or two of the critical commissioning efforts and support others. The candidate will work as a member of an international team which includes multiple senior scientists, other postdoctoral assistants, graduate and undergraduate students. The position requires either to relocate to Hamburg or substantial travel to Hamburg.
